No Longer Human - Dazai (Lo squalificato) 1st notebook
I'm currently reading the first "chapter" of No Longer Human, translated in "Lo squalificato" in italian.
It tells the story of a man, who is "incapable" of living. He's trying to conform to the society, using the mask of a jester.
Since the young age he's exposed to the hypocrisy of the adults (like everyone actually), and he quickly understand that he can survive only trying to hide is real self.
He tells about abuse from their domestic stuff, and he's not giving it too much weight, as it was a normal behavior. He also struggle to find something really interesting, and he's intimidated by a school friend, who's apparently know he's pretending to be a clown, and he's faking it.
