Ghost Cat Anzu

#movie

Yesterday i watched Ghost Cat Anzu, i didn't know anything about it until yesterday morning when a friend of mine told me that he will watch it that afternoon. I watched the trailer and found it quite interesting.
That kind of movie that chill you out, nice animation and a good message.

The movie is about a young girl, called Karin. Everyone is calling her "The young Karin".
She has lost her mother 3 years later, and his father has some debts with usurers. He run away from Tokyo and go back in a small village where his father is managing a temple; he let Karin here and leave for searching the money.

Karin then met Anzu. Anzu is a ghost cat. After living more than 30 years with karin's grandpa, he eventually become a ghost and start act as if he's a human.

The movie is about the struggling and sense of impotence. I have felt the same sensations of Karin multiple times in my life. Sometimes you have that feeling, the people around you are good with you, but you still aren't happy. You do not know your place. You want go away, even if staying is the right choice. You run away, and then realise that wasn't the right choice to make.

Anzu act as a sort of "Uncle", he is funny, and try to please Karin, without success. She's very pissed of him.

Then they have a journey together and go back to Tokyo. This will eventually strengthens their relationship and Karin has the opportunity to close some past story and finally go ahead with her own life.

I found the movie okay both from direction and animation. It's hilarious and the other animals are a nice touch. I found that is "instilled" by Japanese folklore elements that i liked a lot. You can empathise with Karin and can eventually see her growing during each phase of the movie.

The pacing is also okay, probably a little bit slow in the first half part of the movie.

Overall i liked it a lot!
